FUCK ME
I'm all screwed up so
FUCK ME.

FUCK ME
and take out the garbage
feed the cat and FUCK ME
you can do it, I know you can.

FUCK ME
and theorize about
Sado Masochism's relationship
to classical philosophy
tell me how this stimulates
the fabric of most human relationships,
I love that kind of pointless intellectualism
so do it again and
FUCK ME.

Stop being logical
stop contemplating
the origins of evil
and the beauty of death
this is not a TV movie about Plato sex life,
this is FUCK ME
so FUCK ME

It's the pause that refreshes
just add water and
FUCK ME.

I wrote this
so I'd have a good excuse to say "FUCK ME"
over and over
and over
so I could get a lot of attention
and look, it worked!

Well, someone had to think she was pretty good, otherwise we wouldn't know her at all, and she wouldn't exist.

I admire her bluntness. At this point, that's all I can really say about her.

So far, I am wholly unimpressed with Estep's work. It lacks panache, metre, and any hint of intelligent delivery.

I get pissy about people whose entire poetic contribution is blunt vagomenstrual sex objet d'art. Young, inexperienced girls get their armpit hairs all electrified over it (including myself, to be fair), but once you are exposed to formidable academic work, it loses its gleam quickly. Plus, if you're serious about armpit-electrifying Women Warrior contributions, there are much better ones out there.

I find everything is much more tolerable once one has had a few g&t's.

Sometimes I get pissy about it, too~it gets feely earth-mama, just reverse patriarchal-schmarcal.
But I dislike phallo centrism
more.

Perhaps this piece is too self-conscious in the manner of the last stanza.

I think her last bit defines it all. She's sort of poking fun at shock value for shock value's sake.
I like her sass.Even though others might do it "better" or more intellectually (which she also pokes fun at).

I also think it is complete shit. It's like listening to someone going "oooh, look look I LIKE SEX hahaha oooh I bet you think I'm so shocking I think I'll say SEX SEX SEX some more because it's funny and shocking but oh not really I'm just laughing at your reaction to my silly pseudo-provocative borderline ass....SEXSEXSEX". Sigh. But I'm bitter. But I also don't think this is very good. It's typical and thinks it's witty, it's boring and thinks itself invigorating, and there are few things more irritating in any form of literature.

I'm not trying to be nasty or anything, just attempting to express why I find this poem irritating. Sometimes people find things irritating and it's hard to put a finger on why. That's the best explanation I can offer.

Be nasty all you want: it's not my poem. I would much rather have heated discussions like this than a million people going "Ooh I really like that. Thanks for posting."

I'll add my voice to the chorus. I don't like it either. It's the sort of bumbly, babyish poem that exists just to be bad, so I'd say to it to go by itself a motorcycle and fuck right off.

More detailed: Like the person above me said, she's trying to get a rise out of people with something that is only shocking if you live in Utah. Not only that, but she has to capitalize the shockers just to make sure people know they should be shocked. But it isn't shocking. It's no big deal. The poem reads like any of a thousand blog rants. Same old same old--'I hate over-intellectualizing'. Well, okay, lady. But this is poetry. You can't just say it. You gotta say it like a nuclear explosion. If you want to play with fireworks, get a myspace account.

Perhaps in another time period, this would be shocking? Maybe she's a little behind the times. And would rather try shocking us conventionally than stepping outside of the box.

Even if she had written this in a different period, all shock value with no aftershock value is no fun at all.
