"From tiny acorns..."
Feb. 1st, 2003 09:26 pmA little girl
standing on the rear bumper
gathering dust with the pad of her finger.
WASH ME
It's not original by any means,
but it's her first act
of vandalism,
and that's enough for me.
.....
if i were the last man on earth
the last woman on earth
would sit me down
and carefully explain
that it wasn't me
that she'd just been through
a really tough time
(relationship-wise)
and that she was scared
of being hurt again
this wouldn't necessarily mean
that she wasn't interested
in me per se
or even that she didn't like me
but merely that the spark
wasn't there
it would have nothing to do with me
it would just be something she
needed to work through by herself
and there would be no reason that
we couldn't become friends
very good friends
but ultimately just friends.
and I would look at her and say,
ok.

"From tiny acorns..." and others such as "The Concrete Fairies" and "a small revenge" (which I've posted in this community before) can be found in the [award-winning] book Not quite the Man for the Job, which is currently out of print.
I consider him great.
