Dam-break, a flood in drought time,
August sun flashing on tin
a barn roof, all that's above
as two men pass like a cloud
over pasture, boat bow filled
with crowbar and ax, a rope,
for something in that barn lives,
so anchor, hang on the roof,
peel back tin slats, break through beams
before it comes, a stallion
shedding tin's dazzle like scales
as it rises through the roof
like an image opening
inside the mind, born of fire
and waterborne, alive.
