Pied Beauty

Glory be to God for dappled things--
For skies of couple-colour as a brindled cow;
For rose-moles all in stipple upon trout that swim;
Fresh-firecoal chestnut-falls; finches wings;
Landscape plotted and pieced—fold, fallow, and plough;
And all trades, their gear and tackle and trim.

All things, counter, original, spare, strange;

i only know because we studied him in my old writing group.

I did not know he kept a journal of his sins. It makes sense that he would do sl. I know that he constantly suffered from self criticism and worried everything endlessly including the value of his poetry. He also was isolated intellectually at times because of where he was placed and would get overwhelmed by his administrative duties.
