Paul Kelly: Summer Rain

SUMMER RAIN

She comes and goes, like summer rain.
I wait all day for summer rain.
And when she comes, I smile again.
She cools my brain, like summer rain.

She'll change your plans like summer rain.
I raise my arms to summer rain.
I lift my head and taste again.
The sweet, sweet drops of summer rain.

She's warm, she's fresh like summer rain.
She comes in a rush, like summer rain.
And when she comes she makes a change.
I'll wait all day for summer rain.

It's not why you're running
It's where you're going
It's not what you're dreaming
But what you're gonna do

It's not where you're born
It's where you belong
It's not how weak
But what will make you strong

when you posted the lyric, the song that went through my mind is a U2 tune by the same name. i responded to aria muse because they posted a bit of a different lyric. :)

CHOCOLATE RAIN

She comes and goes, like chocolate rain.
I wait all day for chocolate rain.

Where was this published?

A great songwriter, and therefore poet

Well, there are many MANY people who'd disagree with you on that point.... but aside from that, this community only allows material by published poets, not musicians. In the future, please limit your posts to poems, not song lyrics.

Perhaps that definition should be on the profile page of the community, along with no self-publishing?

I think there are many very old poems that would be considered songs if they were released now, but the music has been lost.

I see Paul Kelly as much a poet as a musician, but I might be biased as I'm a musician and a poet and would hate to see my work limited to one or the other. ()

I hate the internet, because all I can think of is "chocolate rain".

LOL.

Aw, I'm sorry about that. *pats*
