Edit: Got it now! Thanks!
I have a favor to ask of you all. I was once presented with a poem on the last day of a creative writing class, however, I came home from college this weekend to find that many things in my room had been thrown out, including most things from that class. The only thing I clearly remember is that God was presented as female, but that was not like a huge part of the poem. The person who gave it to me really likes poets such as Mary Oliver and Margaret Atwood if that helps any...

Basically, if you could post or list any poems you know of that reference God being female, I would REALLY appreciate it!

Wish I could help. I'm so sorry to hear about that -- when I was young my mother used to throw things of mine out all the time, and it was really upsetting.

There's a particular one I thought of, but I can't remember what it is, dammit. It had something about her pinning a list or something to a board. Argh. It's driving me insane.

I thought of this one too, though.

God Says Yes To Me

I asked God if it was okay to be melodramatic
and she said yes
I asked her is it was okay to be short
and she said it sure is
I asked her if I could wear nail polish
or not wear nail polish
and she said honey
she calls me that sometimes
she said you can do just exactly
what you want to
Thanks God I said
And is it even okay is I don't paragraph
my letters
Sweetcakes God said
who knows where she picked that up
what I'm telling you is
Yes Yes Yes

I think the poem you're referencing is "Everywoman Her Own Theology" by Alicia Ostriker. Here is a link to it: http://exceptindreams.livejournal.com/83249.html.

I thought of Ntozake Shange's use of:
"i found god in myself/ & i loved her / i loved her fiercely"

But when I looked them up they come from a 'black liberation chant.'

I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for:

Living With Her
Li-Young Lee

She opens her eyes
and I see.
She counts the birds and I hear
the names of the months and days.
A girl, one of her names
is Change. And my childhood
lasted all of an evening.
Called light, she breathes, my living share
of every moment emerging.
Called life, she is a pomegranate
pecked clean by birds to entirely
become a part of their flying.
Do you love me? she asks.
I love you,
she answers, and the world keeps beginning.
