Admin: expanding our tags with paid time.

Hello poetry cats and kittens, a little admin business: several years ago LiveJournal introduced a limit of 1,000 tags for all journals and communities: they let us grandfather in our existing tags (nearly 2,000 of them), but since 2007 we haven't been able to add any tags for new poets, or tag a post unless the author was already in the old tag list.

Fortunately, LJ has finally upped the limit to 4,000 tags! However this is only for communities with a paid account. Because we get asked about this fairly regularly, I wanted to give members the opportunity to buy paid time for the community if they'd like this feature turned on. This will let us expand our list of author tags and make the community a more useful tool for searching and browsing. The pricing tiers are $5 (2 months), $15 (6 months), and $25 (12 months).

If you want to buy paid time for greatpoets you can do it directly through LiveJournal -- we the mods won't have any access to your money. The how-to:

1. Click here to go to the LJ payment center

2. Scroll down and make sure the Buy As A Gift tab is selected. (See image below.)

3. Under Period choose how much paid time you'd like to buy.

4. Beside Recipient, type greatpoets.

5. Click Add to Cart and follow the payment steps!

The more people who can help out the better, because if our paid time ever expires, our tagging capabilities will again be frozen, until more is bought. Luckily paid time from multiple people will add together.

Hi, I don't mind tagging too (I can be quite obsessive about it, tbh), but it seems like you've got a lot of people already, so could I suggest an "other poets" tag as well? In case we hit the 4,000 tag limit. (Then when re-tagging, it won't be so difficult.)
